Fire Service
Cohoctah Township is a member of the Howell Area Fire Authority. Burn permits are not required. The Cohoctah fire substation is located at Oak Grove Road and Chase Lake Road. For more information, please visit the Howell Area Fire Authority Website at www.howellareafd.org.
Hall Reservation
A maintenance fee of $100 is charged to non-residents, and for residents using the hall for commercial purposes, the maintenance fee is $25. There is no maintenance fee for non-commercial use by residents. To schedule a reservation, please call the township office at 517-546-0655 during regular business hours.
Elections The township has one precinct for voting. All voting occurs at the township hall, 10518 Antcliff Road, Fowlerville, MI. 48836. Under a new Michigan law, elections are held on the last Tuesday of February, and the first Tuesday after the first Monday of the months of May, August, and November. Contact the Clerk's office for additional information.
Property Transfer Affidavits and Principal Residence Exemptions Whenever you purchase or transfer real property, a property transfer affidavit must be filed with the township clerk within 45 days of the transfer. Failure to do so will result in a penalty up to $200.00.
A principal residence exemption form must be filed if the house is your principal residence. Failure to do so could result in your having to pay more property taxes than required by law.
Household batteries may be recycled at the township hall during business hours.
